Pre historical settlement

Pre historical settlement near Slatino village, Boboshevo


The Pre historical settlement is situated on a plateau in the place “Tchardako” near Slatino village, 1 km eastwards from left bank of river Dgerman. It was researched in the period 1981-1988 by Stephan Tchohadgiev on area of 3200 sq. m. Five dwelling horizons are registered since eneolithic period – beginning of 5th mil. B.C. On a small area of the settlement – in pits – evidence of life are registered since period of middle neolith. Over 500 ceramic vessels were found, most of them are masterpieces of art; extremely various anthropo- and zoomorphic plastics, cult tables, dwelling and furnace models, lifestyle subjects. Among labor tools most interesting is the copper nail (made of pure copper) – the earliest of this type so far. A unique finding is a furnace with imprinted on its bottom side calendar system. Some of the findings on the site suggested man of eneolithic period knew astronomy. On some of the vessels and subjects, the so called “fore-alphabetic signs” are marked

Pre historical settlement near Sapareva Banya


The Pre historical settlement is situated 2,5 km westwards from Sapareva Banya, in the place “Kremenik”. The researches are done in the period 1977 – 1988 initially headed by Prof. Georgi Georgiev, and afterwards by Vassil Nikolov. For the period 1977 – 1980 drill holes are dug on area of 500 sq. m., since 1982 regular excavations are made, on an area of 2000 sq. m., suspended in 1988. The settlement was inhabited through 6th mil. B.C. Seven dwelling horizons are registered – four since early neolith, and three since late neolith. Numerous labor tools are found, made of stone, flint, bone and horn, various anthropo- and zoomorphic plastics, different subjects.

Pre historical settlement – Diakovo village, Dupnitca region


The Pre historical settlement is situated in place ”Gradishte”, in cup of Diakovo dam. The researches are done through drill holes in 1980 by S. Tchohadgiev. Two dwelling horizons are registered – they date back since 5th mil. B.C (transition from early to late eneolith). Over 50 whole and fragmented vessels were found. Among labor tools most interesting is the copper nail, which copper percentage is 99,6%. At this time the settlement is partially drowned by the dam.

Ïðàèñòîðè÷åñêî Pre historical settlement in the village of Vaksevo, Nevestino municipality


The Pre historical settlement is situated in place ”Cold water” on the left bank of river Eleshnitca, 1km northwards from the village of Vaksevo. The researches are done through drill holes, on an area of 800 sq. m., by S. Tchohadgiev. Seven dwelling horizons are registered - three since early neolith, one since beginning of middle neolith, late neolith, “postneolithic stage” of former period, and since early bronze era. Numerous materials were found – over 850, most fascinating are black polished ceramic vessels, vessels with white decoration, anthropomorphic images, subjects with “pre alphabetic signs”, a copper nail, etc. The site is the only in West Bulgaria, so far, in which three prehistorical periods are presented – neolithic, eneolithic and early bronze era. That turns it in basic chronological site in Struma River Basin.
